Figures from the Department of Work and Pensions showed approximately 8,820,545 British jobs would be lost by the rise of artificial intelligence by 2030 and over the last three years the demand for workers with artificial intelligence skills has increased by up to 119% according to job site, Indeed.
Whilst this may seem like a daunting future, it’s also an exciting one, as with some jobs being eliminated, new ones will emerge in line with new advances in tech.
The tech sector is at the forefront of the research and developments taking place in artificial intelligence, with the most renowned worldwide companies beginning to increase their recruitment for roles integrated with AI.
With AI-related jobs more than doubling over the past three years, RS Components has analysed job posts from some of the world’s biggest tech companies to discover who has the highest percentage of AI-related job openings and is making big steps to a more technologically integrated future?.
The top ten companies are: Microsoft tops the leader-board with 1,964 AI job openings, equating to 36% of the total jobs they have on offer.
This tech giant has more than doubled the number of AI jobs than Google, who have the second highest number of jobs at 837.
With Bill Gates famously known for being one of the world’s richest men, it’s no surprise that Microsoft are dominating the developments in AI, integrating it into their work more and more.
Whilst Nvidia has just 369 job openings, this company comes in as having the second highest percentage of AI jobs being advertised, at 33%.
As a computer game company, AI will be hugely beneficial to the processes involved in the making and development of new games.
As well as being one of the popular sites on the internet, social media platform, Facebook is one of the world’s leading tech companies, with new tools being implemented to improve the user’s experience.
So how many jobs is it looking to recruit relating to AI?.Featuring in the top 10 companies, Facebook offers 191 jobs, which is a surprising 6% of their total jobs on offer.
Netflix is similar, with the same 6% of AI jobs available, coming to a small 35 jobs.
Will this number increase over the next few years?.It seems likely.
Probably the largest and most famous tech company in the world right now is Apple, who interestingly does not feature in the top 10 companies recruiting highly in AI.
The tech giant come in at 12th place, with just 3% of their total 4,574 jobs available.
Having said this, Apple may well be a few steps ahead of the rest of the industry and hired the majority of their AI roles a few years back.
Our research clearly shows that the technology sector are making changes to prioritise the developments in AI as they are beginning to hire heavily in jobs related to this technology.
Over the next few years we will see the impact these AI roles will have, as new developments will find their way into the home and workplace.
