Facebook are as follows: Software Engineer Google: $130k base, $230k TC Microsoft: $128k base, $185k TC Facebook: $161k base, $292k TC Data Scientist Google: $132k base, $210k TC Microsoft: $154k base, $225k TC Facebook: $171k base, $240k TC It looks like in general, Data Scientists have a higher median base salary than Software Engineers at Google, Microsoft, or Facebook.
Much of this is likely due to the fact that companies like to look for Data Scientists with experience (and sometimes advanced degrees), whereas there are a lot more entry or junior level Software Engineer positions.
